What is Anodising?
The anodising of aluminium – also called anodic oxidation, anodising or eloxal – is a proven and common process for the surface refinement of aluminium. In an electrochemical process, the aluminium surface is converted into aluminium oxide. This oxide layer is ceramically hard, transparent and, in contrast to other finishing processes, firmly bonded to the base material. The thickness of the layer can be chosen according to the intended use of the workpiece. Anodising is used to preserve the valuable, metallic character of aluminium in the fields of architecture (e.g. facades) and industry (e.g. automotive, aircraft construction, engineering).
